     12 - 15 Jan 2001 Team winter pre-training in Chamonix, France.

    The team training event was a success and was the last activity before the expedition begins.  A report on the training weekend will appear here shortly.
     

     
    12 Dec 2000 Lecture by Stephen Venables.

    The Stephen Venables lecture on the 12th december at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst was a great success with over 400 guests attending.   Stands were also presented by SSAFA Forces Help and the Expedition Team.   Mike Peakman showed willing onlookers the different pieces of technical and climbing gear used by the team.

    The talk lasted over 2 hours with an interval in which Stephen Venables gave a fascinating lecture on the epic voyage by Ernest Shackleton and reccounted his NOVA Film expedition to South Georgia with Conrad Anker and Reinhold Messner.

    The evening raised over £4000 for the team and SSAFA Forces Help. The raffle was drawn by Stephen Venables and prizes were presented by Cisco Systems.
